MYSTICS OF PETERSBURG

"The Great in the Small"

The first big book of Sergey Nilus was named "Great in Small". On Seraphim Sarovsky's impressions he has considered sanctity of this saint aged man not only in the light of honouring ( it was national-wide)), but also in escalating its moral influence on a wounded soul of the modern person, on its education by the evangelical doctrine.

From 1903 Sergey Aleksandrovich left behind a life in the world of passions and wishes, becoming pious, and he has appeared suitable for Divine gifts - good fortunes of Spirit Sacred, inspiration saving and prophetical.

The main book of Sergey Nilusa's - "On the banks of the Divine river". Its subtitle "orthodox notes" specifies book in character of the chosen genre: notes personal, contain episodes from an orthodoxal life.

And it is true, the author opens here an essence of sacral conversations with the Optinsky saints who directed only to God and have found a lonely shelter in a sacred monastery. Their judgements wise, lectures full of sacral wisdom and prophetical words about future destinies of Russia are full of bitterness about eschatological presentiments.

"On the bank of the Divine river" - the unique book in the Russian mystical literature, its each page smells with sacral mysticism and sanctity and is sated by wise spiritual reflexions.
